Just putting out feelers here...
Is anyone interested in buying my Casio XD-GW9600 (i.e., Casio XD-GP9700 without the Japanese audio), and if so what would be the most you'd be willing to pay for it? (Man, I really wish there was a "going rate" on eBay, but there really isn't.)
Oh, and speaking of ARTR, when I was on the Princess Mononoke show last night I discovered that Neil Gaiman did the English script adaptation. Cool, huh?
I'm really excited for next week's recording (although I haven't actually heard back from them yet): Millenium Actress. Love, love, love. That movie.

[EDIT: On the topic of Japanese pitch accent, Against Marking Accent Locations in Japanese Textbooks. As soon as I saw her name (after reading the article) I felt like I recognized it, and then I went to her website and saw that she was one of the authors of Genki. Which (partly) explains why Genki doesn't have accent markings.]

[EDIT 2:
Didn't watch it all, but this was a nice bit of nostalgia:

I miss my childhood. ^_^;
Although I must say all the modern Nick hatred I see out there is pissing me off. I certainly liked the old Nick better, but really I think that's just because it was what I saw when I was a kid. I mean, you know how everyone always talks about how the music/TV shows/morality/whatever was so much better back in their day? I think that's all just a sort of cultural imprinting, mixed with a dash of a lack of discernment in youth that doesn't "backdate" once you get older. Plus, there was plenty of Nick shows I didn't like when I was younger, or now, like CatDog or Rocko's Modern Life.
Also, Doug was way better when it was a Nickelodeon property and not a Disney property. ^^;
P.S. ANIMORPHS!!! Man, I really gotta finish reading that series.]

I'm just curious how much the upgrade would cost me.

Upgrading is futile. There will just be a better, nicer, newer, and more expensive one next year that you'll want to buy. It's a 無駄遣い.

I know, but I'm not generally the upgrading type. I mean, even when I bought the thing I was thinking "if only the English recordings were Japanese instead". I dunno, maybe I should see if the NHK accent dictionary is available as an SD card or something, because I'd be nearly just as happy with that, and it would make me feel much less like an idiot.

I might be willing to buy it, but I can't say how much I'd pay for it without having tried it out. How good is its corpus? (I do some pretty intense kanji work on a regular basis, with lots of archaic and obscure forms...)

I could lend it to you for a bit to play with.

Also, randomly, Nanami looks really good in that outfit. Almost professional.

She does, indeed; Business Nanami is Do Want. Actually, I can very much see her in a business executive role ten years later, you know?

Yeah, I do. I just hope she calms down a bit before then, rather than being sharky, heartless business executive. Then again, she had calmed down a lot by the end of the series.

Hello again. I am still quite interested in purchasing it if you're going to still try to sell it, about the only things I would need to know is how much it would cost to have it shipped to Japan, and whether or not the Kodansha Kanji Learner's Dictionary is loaded into its memory.

Ah, sorry for not replying in more detail, then. Unfortunately I haven't yet bought the Kanji Learner's Dictionary, and I think $250 is too much to pay for the upgrade. Knowing that the going rate is 30,000 yen, I'll probably just hold onto it. If for some reason I change my mind, I'll get in touch with you first to see if you haven't already bought a dictionary.
