Note to self:
Last year the 3kyuu was from 12:40 to 4.

It's now shipping. :)

I'm thinking I'm going to take the bus out, leaving Minneapolis at 10 am on the 2nd and arriving in Chicago at 7:35, I'll then spend the night at the HI hostel there, take the test in the morning, spend some time at Mitsuwa, then catch the 9:15 bus back, arriving at 6:15 am. Altogether I'm looking at $40 for the test fee, $115 for the bus, $35 for the bed, $25 for food (which will mostly be groceries I bring with me but might include one meal at a cheap restaraunt), $10 for public transportation, and maybe $50 in Mitsuwa funds, so about $275... If worst comes to worst I can always be extra frugal with the foodage and skip, or at least only window shop at, Mitsuwa.

[EDIT: Wow... Dealing with the public transportation isn't going to be fun... In addition to having to figure it out in a city I'm not familiar with, they also seem to like to charge extra when you switch between bus and train. Anyways, I called the Chicago HI and found out that a night starts at 2 pm and ends at 11 am, which is good to know. But a short reminder to self: none of this happens until you get a job, so hurry up and go get one!]

OMG NASTASSJA STOP LOOKING AT THE IKKYUU TANGO AND KANJI LISTS AND FREAKING OUT! YOU WON'T BE TAKING THAT THING FOR YEARS, AND YOU HAVE A PERFECTLY MANAGABLE TEST COMING UP IN FIVE MONTHS!!

In all seriousness, though, there really is no making tango flashcards for the ikkyuu, is there?

I should go to bed now.

P.S. I wonder... If I save up, could I manage to take this year's test in Vancouver? (I'd have to save up mainly because I doubt I'd have time to take the bus while school is still in session.) Of course I'd rather go with a friend, so if I have any friends taking the test and none of them want to go to Vancouver with me, I'd probably take it where they go.
Or... Nevermind. The plane flight would be around $600 per person, and even by bus it's $200 a person and takes 48 hours. Chicago it is.
I still need to figure out to what degree I want to coordinate things with Tori-chan. Goryoushin ni jama shitakunai kara ne. But maybe it only makes sense to coordinate fully, and just make sure to pay her parents fully for my portion of the gas/hotel/tabemonos + a jama fee? Or maybe we should just go futari de?
