I just got propositioned for a really interesting job offer as a caretaker in Champaign-Urbana. Room and board with around $150/mo. stipend. I flew the idea by my dad, and he didn't have any big qualms with it. Granted, the income would be a lot less than I make right now, but I'd probably be off by 2 pm every dad and could get another part-time job. And when you think of it, it would be the first time I'd be earning my rent and groceries, even if not technically paying for them myself. Anyways, I have until at least March to decide. I think I might base the decision on whether I get a FT job at the U or not.
I think a change of pace could be really good for me.

[EDIT: Shit. Now my thoughts have expanded badly, and I don't think I'll be able to sleep easily tonight. So much plotting.]

Actually, the friend who offered the position to me noticed that you lived there when I shared one of your photos with her.

The person's elderly grandma. I'd be making breakfast for her, cleaning, stuff like that.

I mean, I hate to be mean, but while that would be a great opportunity, you can hardly take care of your things and get them in the right order, I wonder how you would do taking care of someone. Maybe it would be a great change of pace and be good for you, maybe not.

Sorry, I meant you know, get you things in order, you can't remember to hold on to your stuff, you're always losing things, etc.

Yeah. I'll have to bring this up with the person, see what she thinks. She is an LJ friend of mine, and I think she knows me as well as you do, but perhaps I should remind her of these things.

this household works the procrastination out of you pretty quick, and we can go keychain shopping. ;-)

Crack egg
put in plate
forget to vote
heat frying pan
put sausage links in microwave
put bread in toaster
pour juice
set out utensils, and napkins
butter toast
put links on plate with egg

Oh damn, I forgot to vote‽ (<---interobang)

Here are some training vids that might help you clench the opportunity

Wooo, Champaign! They have a pretty nice anime club there attached to UIUC - http://jac.anime.net :D Their philosophy of what to show is a bit different than MAS, though, since they're willing to show things that span multiple semesters or even years as long as it's good. And they typically try to show really new stuff that hasn't been released in the US yet (though I suppose that's probably changing some since these days the commercial outfits are pretty quick at picking up shows.)

Of course I guess I should preface all this with the fact that I was president of the club for 2 years so I'm kinda biased towards liking JAC, lol.

If you do end up going, say hi to Dena Strong for me. :D She is a regular club attender/psuedo-officer and has been working for the university's IT department since I was there.

So, would you be transferring schools, or not going to school, or what?

I think this would be a good thing for you. My mom did something similar when she was younger (except it was kids - more of a live-in babysitter?) also in Illinois.... haha. Seems like it's a good experience, and really, it may be worth it for you to break out and make a new start.

I admit, though, one major thought is "what about fourth year with Tasha?"

Haha... I'll live. No guarantee I'll even get to take it myself. ^.^
