So, not long after I got into work today Laure asked me if I wanted to "go with her", which confused me. Turns out a few months after new people start they like to go over how things are going (apparently separate from the review based on watching the security cameras). Which meant I got an hour on the clock without having to work and eating a chocolate cupcake from Starbucks in B&N that she paid for (especially good since I managed to forget my rice at home, which I'm eating now). :) Overall she said I was doing really well, but the three things she mentioned that I need to work on are putting store advocacy over customer advocacy (i.e., stop suggesting peanut butter fingers at the first sign of price discomfort over the buckets, etc.), takings more risks rather than always asking co-workers questions about how to do things (although the two situations I brought up she said were situations in which she would have asked herself), and... Something else I forgot. Oh yeah, trying to improve customer throughput, which will be especially important during the holiday season. One amusing thing was that she said I was a real "gem in the rough". I can't say I was entirely sure whether to take that as a compliment or not. Were you saying you had serious reservations when I was hired, or that even looking at me now someone wouldn't be able to guess that I'm actually a really good worker? ^_^; But I know she meant it positively. Anyways, the talk really made me want to motto ganbaru. I like meeting people's expectations when I can. ^_^ I did tell her that I can't find my key, though, so we'll see what comes of that. And speaking of losing things, I forgot my phone in the phone basket for the second time this week. ^^;
Speaking of phones... One of my co-workers quit today after Jim told her to not come back until she could get over her problem of using her phone during shifts (something I was not aware of). I'm kind of sad, since I got along with her pretty well, but it sounds like she didn't need the job that badly, and she was looking at getting another job anyway. Anyways, this means that we're gonna be a bit understaffed until Jim makes up a new schedule for the rest of August and September. I'm imagining they'll also be hiring a new worker since I'll be the only one on staff not returning to school in the fall. However, between the time that he makes the new schedule and when they hire a new worker, I should have more hours. Yay, money!
Jim keeps asking me if I'm still going to the conference (SGMS), and I'm just like... If I can get the money, I'm going. I understand that that means that many less hours. Stop asking. Except I'm not that forward about it. I did tell him a bit about why I'm so excited to go (OMG Abe!) (Semagic, will you *please* stop converting the B to lowercase?), but the explanation of who he was was... As you might expect.
You know, when I was younger I loved being home alone for a whole week, but now it's just... lonely. I suppose it doesn't help that I don't really have time to invite people over. :( I wish I had a friend who was in classes right now so we could at least do homework together.

P.S. Gotta love when customers ask for "one bear". "What kind?" "A bear." (Our bears come in five different kinds of nuts, and each of those comes in two or three different types of chocolate.) It's even funnier than when people ask for a peanut butter bucket, and I ask them what kind, and they say "peanut butter".

[EDIT 3: Why is it that no hairpiece I've ever tried ever works with my hair?]

[EDIT 4: *chokes* Seig... Siegfried System? *does a fish mouth for a couple seconds* I'm sorry, but I can't deal with having a "Seigfried System" in two different mech series, and Fafner had it first. Give it back! Well, I guess to be fair it's "Siegfried no System, not "Siegfried System, so it's not totally the same, and I'm assuming they do totally different things.]

Well, I tried to make copies of the new August and September schedules, but the paper in the copier ran out and I was only able to get the September schedule. All I know for the rest of August is that I'm working 2-cl tomorrow and 1-cl Tuesday. I'm planning to go in early tomorrow to write things down, so I'll leave you another note when I get home.
