Japanese copyright is rabid insane.

A few years ago there was a pop song "Pop Star" by... 平井堅 I think it is. It's got the refrain "I wanna be a pop star" in it. Well, someone on 2ch made a parody version of the song called "VIP star," where VIP or VIPpers is the term for people who are all over 2ch, popular people there who are masters of it, etc. So, the song was hilarious, all about the experience of 2ch, full of 2ch slang and trolling threads and all kinds of crud.

I found it because someone put it up on You Tube, and they used the original "pop star" video, but replaced all the words out so you can read the "VIP star" lyrics along with the "VIP star" audio.

Obviously, the video was pulled, but the sound was still out there on the net in various places, illegal of course.

But where it gets CRAZY is, I wanted the words printed out, and they were around the net for a while so I got them, but later they too were removed - just the written words, to a filk song, because supposedly even filk lyrics, being "based on" some song, are a violation.

Crazy. Utterly crazy.

This is compared to the 134109686 American pop songs that get in my head where I have no clue of the lyrics, and all it takes to find them is to type a phrase into google and tons of sites with the lyrics pop right up.

Certainly there are the various lyrics sites for Japanese music (which I DO appreciate for a lot of stuff!), but the problem is that they don't have full lyrics search. You gotta know either the artist, the title, or the opening lyric (meaning, not even the refrain!) so they're not good for "what the heck song is it that goes ...." style queries.

I want "find me all songs that contain this string" query.
