A Hot Oil Bath would suck!
Jun. 17th, 2008 06:02 pmWork was fairly good, although Joe seems to always be surprised that I can't bag cookies at the speed of sound. ^^; I mean, maybe I could bag them faster if I had a line of customers waiting or something, but I honestly do work the fastest I can before I meet a big mental hurdle. I also spent about 1.5 hours at Chick-fil-A, during which I cooked 18 hamburgers. And let me tell you, in the maybe 15 minutes I spent over that hot oil, I got hit by drops of it maybe 10 or 15 times, and man does that stuff hurt, even if only for a half a second. The woman who's been working there for 5 years (!) says that eventually you just get used to it so you don't feel it anymore. That said, the experience reminded me that maybe I should apply to some MacDonald's in the area, since I might be able to get decent hours there. Oh, I also got two requests to fill out a short personality survey for call center jobs at TCF. Hopefully my responses were satisfactory enough to be considered further.
Anyways, Joe's having me come again tomorrow from 9 until when I have to leave to go to my dental appointment, which I think will be a little before 2. I'll almost certainly be working at Chick-fil-A for an hour and a half again. Including the hours I'm working at catering over the weekend and the hours I'm scheduled to work tomorrow, I'm at about 36 hours for this week. Which I'm very, very happy about, but I decided to let Joe know about the 20 hours at catering so I don't get unapproved overtime. Also, it turns out that freshman orientation is something that's going on all summer, and something in the wording Joe used when talking to the head Chick-fil-A lady (the one who's been working there for 5 years) about how things will work with me gave me the sense that I'll be working at Coffman regularly this summer. Yay!
I just checked my application status for the two UDS jobs I applied for at Coffman, and they're "Under Review by Department". Which means they're not rejected yet. Also yay!
I managed to deposit my U of MB check, mail off two packages and an international letter, and buy a 25-pack of DVDs today. I meant to pick up some stuff Szatrowski-sensei left for me in Nolte and finally pick up my locker contents from the Rec Center, but partly because I woke up 20 minutes before the last bus that would get me to work in time, and partly because of my addiction to the intarnets, I didn't get out of Coffman until after 4:30. Although I guess that would have only affected picking up the stuff from Nolte, not from the Rec, so I guess that bit was just laziness combined with rationalizing that I can do it later this week.

I guess that's it. Tschüss.
