I mean, I hate to be English-centric, but... The world is. Or at the very least, I think more people know the Roman alphabet than any other alphabet when you include people who learned other alphabets in studying a second language. And shouldn't the cart be following the horse, not the other way around? You don't promote Russian by forcing people to learn Cyrillic.
