Making this a separate post because I want to show off my new (and unrelated) icon.

In any case, I'm back in "putz around blankly on the computer constantly refreshing lj, my e-mail, and everything else while not writing a single sentence on my paper" mode. Have been for about an hour, maybe more. Grrr...
*goes to grab my hachimaki and glasses to re-infuse concentration*
*switches to my 読書 (reading) playlist as an afterthought*

I used to wear my plain "one side red, one side white" standard one from high school gym on occasion, there is something to the idea of tying it tight around the head keeping me awake. That and massive amounts of coffee.

When I was a kid my sister and I used to sometimes use a "power tie" to do horrible homework, it was just this HIDEOUS tie that belong to our father, it's goldenrod and teal tweed, and really really WIIIIIIDE (bought in college in 1970!) mostly just as a sort of joke and mental reinforcement thing. But wow, that tie was horrid looking. We had some fun teasing him about it too.
