tsukikage: (Hikki - Don't Go)

So... I just made an account over at JapanCupid.com after seeing a banner ad for it on the SARS website... ^_^; I actually "expressed interest" in five people in the region. And then I realized that, well, three of the five people were white and four were non-Japanese, and given that the site is essentially one meant for people wanting to hook up with Japanese people... Ah well. ^_^;
I should figure out my login info for OKCupid.

In this review I'll focus mainly on the new singles and the album as a whole:
This album follows in Hikki's newer style, such as what you find in ULTRA BLUE - a bit electronic and dancy, not so much R&B. Fight the Blues reminds me a bit of Keep Tryin' with a bit more of an... industrial?... sound, with a bit of horn in the background. Gentle Beast Interlude feels a lot like Crossover Interlude from Exodus, with bits of Heart Station and other songs sampled. This fades perfectly into Celebrate, which is rather like a low-key background One Night Magic. Prisoner Of Love has a wonderful beat, somehow expressing the "prisoner" feel well. Take 5, apparently a song about death, has a very "riding on the wind" feel, somewhat like Kairo. It does end abruptly, which I don't mind, but it's very odd going immediately into the children's song "Boku wa Kuma". Nijiiro BASU is quite energetic, and makes me think of a bus horn honking happily, or something, and seems like a calmer version of traveling. The only songs I am still warming up to are Celebrate and Nijiiro BASU. However I'm having trouble getting a sense of the album as a whole, rather than a randomly ordered playlist of songs.

Yeah, I suck at music reviews.

Someone else's pre-release review:
*Can't "Wait & See." 2008/03/18
Reviewer: Brownman (CANADA) Pre Release Comment
I cannot "wait & see" the new album and poster ever since i listened to her music, i was "Eternally" bonded to her music. We are on the "Final Distance" of the album arriving!!! This will not "Be My Last" purchase of Hikki items, for it was "Automatic" for me to purchase this album when I saw it on pre-order. At first i could not find a good payment method, but I told myself "Keep Trying" and now her new CD is on it's way!!! I like the different "COLORS" she shows with her music, you can feel the "Passion" in it. Her music will forever "Stay Gold" in my heart, and I'm happy that this "Beautiful World" gave me a new "Flavor Of Life". I "Wonder 'Bout" the "Traveling" time, i hope it gets to me "A.S.A.P." I guess only "Time will tell," but at least i know that i will "Never Let Go" of these albums. I thought i would not get "Another Chance" at getting the first press, so i ordered quick. I told myself...

I can't decide if I love it or hate it, but I'm leaning towards the latter. ^_^;

Am I a bad person for being all gloaty that the first press sold old?
Or actually, it's probably more that I was worried that it wouldn't since it didn't sell out before release, and I wanted the album to do well.
But I definitely am glad I got my poster. :)

Finished my butchered family tree for presentation in my class tomorrow. I need to work on my worksheet for it next.

Still have the ghost hair net.

[EDIT: Hmm... I see there's no way to contact people if you're both unpaid, not even to exchange e-mail addresses. Well, that's not much use to me.]
