Well, after some testing I'm thinking that the mini-icon would better serve my purpose, but I like the idea of having no "default" icon, but not having icons I've deleted turn into red Xs on my previous posts. I'm still toying at the moment.

Nope, if you delete icons on LJ, all of your old posts get stuck with your current default icon. If you have no default, you just don't have an icon next to your name, but it's impossible to click to look at your icons on your userinfo page if you don't set a default. No red x's are involved. =0D

I knew that old posts would get stuck with your default icon, but I didn't know that it'd just show up without an icon...

And why don't you want an icon? Icons are the pretty. They are personal statements of ourselves. Awwww sad when there are no icons to look at ;___;

I do! I just want the option to not have an icon, ie. when I'm talking about something particularly serious. My "tsuki" icon serves well, certainly, but I'm still glad I now have an alternative.
