Aww, shoot. I forgot that I had a UDS training session today. Granted, even thought it's "required" no-one really goes or cares, but I still was going to be a good girl and go. Ah well.

Also, I chewed both my left middle finger and right thumb to the quick, and they're really tender (esp. my thumb)... Eventually I'll learn my lesson, I hope. *continues to try to trim my middle finger with my teeth* Or not...

On a totally unrelated note, I've decided to stop hating certain people, esp. outwardly. For one, it really is petty and immature, and definitely not flattering. For another, it's not actually how I want to live my life, even if it is only limited to two or three people. In any case, talking badly about people behind their backs = bad.

There are only a few people who I truly detest, and I'm not shy about saying it to their faces either. If you are only going to say it behind their backs then it seems that either you are a coward or you are in the wrong/mistaken about them whether or not you know it while you are badmouthing them (and I mean this as a general "you" since everyone does it at some point). It's good that you (specifically) are realizing it and taking an initiative to change your life, which is more than I can say about most gossipers and two-facers.

Oh, I'm "too polite" to tell people I don't like them to their face. Actually, I don't even think people should tell people they dislike them to their face, except in a few rare situations, or when it would be better for them (for example, I'd want people to diplomatically tell me if they don't like me and would rather me stop trying to be friends with them).

Well, I was talking about some people who have done some terrible things to me, and it wouldn't just stop at "I dislike you" XD

But yeah, society is basically learning to deal with people who will constantly get on your nerves. It takes a big person to be respectful of people and not fall into the habit of complaining about them behind their backs.

That's where I'm at. I believe in civility, and I'll be pleasant even to people I detest, unless the situation truly would be improved by open hostility, and sometimes not even then. Nothing makes me more ashamed than losing my temper for no reason, which is why it so rarely happens. I don't, however, see anything wrong with talking to close friends about it to relieve the stress on you, so long as you're not spreading vitriol by doing it.

Heh, I'd try it, but besides nervousness I also chew my nails as a way of "fixing" them, which gum wouldn't help with. Same with the face picking. I suppose if I start filing my nails more regularly that would work.
