No fair! The new version of the Casio XD-GW9600 (the Japanese electronic dictionary I got) has Japanese audio with proper pitch accent! I'm sort of tempted to sell my current one on eBay and upgrade, but there aren't any good ones on eBay right now so I can't get a sense of what the going rate would be, and I'm definitely not willing to spend $200 just to find out how to properly pronounce the words. There is the one downside that the XD-GP9700 (the new version) doesn't seem to take SD version of the Kodansha Kanji Learner's Dictionary, but at the same time I was planning to get the CD version anyway, once (if?) I do get that.
I was going to run some errands during my break, but by the time I looked up all the information I needed it was really too late to get back in time, so now I'm just relaxing. Hopefully I'll still be able to take care of said errands when I get off of work this evening - I'll have to try to take care of all the closing tasks quickly.
Dewa, shigoto ni modoranakya.

I'm not sure how much pronunciation help you need, but if you don't know already, the 大辞林 dictionary (which is the dictionary behind the http://dictionary.goo.ne.jp/ website) has pitch accent marked on the entries. They use a little number system, indicating the syllable after which the pitch changes. As far as I know it's the one place online with that information (there are certainly print dictionaries with pitch stress, used mainly by announcers to be sure they have the standard accent).

It doesn't have audio (goo ALSO has the audio for English only).

Although this is reminding me, years ago there was some funny website that had song covers done with all the words being read out by the online Mirriam-Webster, it was pretty hilarious...

I decided to make a general post about it in my journal to avoid spamming up everywhere, it might help (I contrasted the numbers with the print version little lines and hook thing).

I think you should be content with what you have, and not waste another however many dollars for a feature that might be useful but definitely isn't necessary. Technology is always advancing, and whenever you buy something, the newer and shinier version will come out. Learn to live with it.

Just 'cuz you don't understand Japanese doesn't mean it consists only of "desu".
