tsukikage: (Kare Kano - Yukino studying late)

I feel kind of stupid for not realizing that "Kirei na Kanjou" was sung by Akino Arai (which is her family name?). Then again, even though she does have a rather distinctive sound/voice, it's really not so distinctive that I should beat myself up too badly about it. Funny thing is, one of the groups I would beat myself up for not recognizing is ALI PROJECT, but since I first really heard a lot of their music much later than when I first heard Coppelia no Hitsugi (i.e., when I watched Rozen Maiden), I didn't realize it was them until hearing Coppelia no Hitsugi much later. I was like... "Wait... I know this sound. *checks* Wow, ALI PROJECT before I knew who ALI PROJECT was!"
I was thinking of posting my to-do list for the next week, but I don't really want to do that on the note taker. Besides, it would only mean me not actually working on said to-do list items.
TIPS training (learning about policies regarding serving alcohol in the concession environment) today was mostly common sense to me, but at least it was short. There were some questions on the certification test that I didn't like any of the answers to, so hopefully that won't cause me to fail and have to take the class again.
Catering 9-4 tomorrow. My bio group for the homework assignment due Thursday didn't want to meet over the weekend, so I'll probably only be able to go to MLC for one night before my next class, as opposed to the twice (once to re-observe, and once for help with my lesson plan) that I had intended.
I think that's really all I wanted to say for now. *gets back to studying*

I don't know of her, but suspect the family name is Arai as I can't imagine it being a first name. "Akino" to me also sounded family-name-ish but there are so many names ending in "no" now for given names too, I guessed it was the given name.

Basing on that assumption, googling gives a Wikipedia (pops).

I need to get some new music myself :)

I was happy recently music wise, I'm currently very stuck on a TV show 交渉人, it has instrumental theme song only but I KNEW it was a song I remember hearing in Cantonese when I was in college, and sure enough, found the thing on some old cassette tapes I still have from then (it's a song "只此一晩" (One Night Only)" by Jenny Tseng, but now I just found out it's originally English too :P) so I was having some fun making mp3s out of some really old cassette tapes I have around the house (I have tons of them...)

Yeah, I would have looked it up on Wikipedia except I was on the note-taker at the time.
One of the guys on Anime Pulse recommended 交渉人, so I've decided to check it out, but I don't have it yet.
Do you have one of those neat cassette/record to mp3 devices, or is it a series of funky cables and whatnot?

I like the show, as it's a police story that's not a comedy.

I've got a computer (a new one, actually - an iMac) with the standard audio card in it, so it has a line in. I've installed a shareware program that can record whatever sound is going over the audio card, so either things coming in on your line in, OR whatever is playing out the headphones. I have that program because I record the news from NHK each morning (it's the evening news in Japan) to listen to on my way to work. Anyway, it will take whatever sound and make an mp3 (and the interface looks like a little tape deck, hehe).

So, all I do to record tapes is, put them in a regular garden variety walkman, hook that to the line in (with a cord that is like the plug-in jack from headphones on both ends, so one end into the headphone plug on the walkman, one end into the line in on the computer), hit play, then hit record on the recording program, it makes an mp3, that's it.

I find the recording program is really convenient though for songs - if it's in YouTube somewhere, all I gotta do is play the video, and record the sound. I'm the sort of person who was always fine with recording songs onto tape from the radio, so it's all good :)

Hey, you're not alone in the feeling-stupid-ness. Just yesterday I realized why Jackie was laughing when the kids kids in Hercules said "Call IXII" and that took place almost two weeks ago >.<
