a mixed bag of a day
Jan. 8th, 2008 09:31 amWell, I meant to write an entry on yesterday, well, yesterday, but I didn't get around to it, so I'll do that now.
Yesterday I had a bunch of errands to run at the U: look for my pencil case in the Coffman UDS mangagers' office, replace the case and its contents if I couldn't find it, pick up some DVDs from
lugia222, and go to Pioneer where UDS HR is to sign up for Spring semester work hours.
So, since I was already at the U I decided to go early to go swimming. Now, I've heard multiple times that it's not good to wash your hair too much, and in fact it can be good for your hair to go a bit longer without showering, so as much as I hate how greasy my hair gets, on days where I won't be leaving the house I often go a third day without showering (regularly I shower every other day). Well, Sunday was that third day, and since I was going swimming on Monday, I decided I only wanted to take one shower that day, so I can just hope no-one paid too much heed to my head before I got my swimming cap on. ^_^;; Anyways, swimming was nice, although I need to learn to stretch properly beforehand. Also, for some reason I got really itchy in the pool that day, which was weird.
Actually, speaking of washing hair, when I was researching hair care I found this tip where, especially for people with long hair, you really only shampoo the top of your hair (i.e., the hair which is near the scalp where sebum builds up) and condition the bottom (which is the part that gets dry). I've been doing that for the past two showers, and it's seems to be going okay, but we'll see if it actually makes a difference. Anyways, let's move on from hair now.
I got out of the locker room early so I went to read on the couches at McNamara where I was waiting for Matt. Those are some really nice couches, and I almost wish I could make that a regular study spot. :)
After getting the DVDs from Matt, I headed over to Pioneer, where I had he first disappointment of the day: Pioneer is closed over winter break. Luckily they had a campus phone right outside the building, so I called the person I was supposed to meet with to ask if she could let me in, and it turns out that Pioneer is COMPLETELY closed over winter break and she was working in a completely different building, so she set up an appointment for me to meet her today (at 11:30). Now, as much as there were other things I needed to do on campus, the main reason I did them on Monday was because that was when I was going to set my Spring schedule, so if I would have known this beforehand, well, I would have run my errands today instead. *shrugs* Whatever, it's good for me to get out. ^_^
I went to the Coffman managers' office, and they didn't have my pen case. :( But I told them not to send people to Pioneer anymore. So I go to the bookstore and go to the front desk where I was told the lost and found was and asked them if they had my pen case. So they open the drawer, and I see her moving stuff around in it, and lo and behold... I saw MY THERMOS. YAY!!!! There was no pen-case, however, but finding my thermos definitely makes up for the failed picking up of hours, and sort of makes up for the pen case. Anyways, thermos in hand I pick up a crap-ass pen case and pens and pencils and erasers to fill it with. See, the sucky thing about it was I had to pick between ugly cases that are of an appropriate size, or somewhat nice-looking pen cases that were way too big, and as much as I'll shell out the cash for the perfect pen case, as they didn't have one I got the ugly one of decent size. And boy, is it ugly. ><; And to think I only paid 200 yen for my old one, and bought it at a konbini no less. Whine, whine, bitch, bitch, moving on.
And then I took the bus home. ^_^
In the evening I mainly watched the first DVD of Hikaru no Go (^_^) and the first episode of Outlaw Star. (You know, I really love that series of photos with Gene at the beginning of the OP.) After that I played some WoW with Vinny, and we actually did some mutually beneficial quests together. And, and, and, I got a PET ICE CLAW BEAR! I need to think of a name for him. (Am I the only one who's really disturbed by having to kill your pets after dismissing them because they're attacking you? And why did the stupid town guards keep killing the animals I was trying to tame? Stupid guards...) It was fun. ^_^
So, what am I doing this week... Hanging out with
musing_mouse on Thursday, and watching Wolf's Rain with
redclaw42 on Saturday. I plan to go swimming both days, as well. I was going to cook a meal on Saturday, but since I'll be gone all afternoon, I guess I'll have to do that on Sunday or some other day. Other than that, not much.
