Basically, yes they are.

They're saying that if a woman and a woman and a man and a man can get married then where would we draw the line next? I think its a horrible comparison to draw and these people should be shot for being so narrow minded and priggish.

Hahaha that's so stupid that it's funny x.x Some of those pictures of what is not a marriage are so crazy...made my day, but I think that Computer Marriage should be made legal haha.

But yeah when I look at it with zero_butterly's perspective it isn't very funny that Gay marriage could be grouped with marrying a dog and two little twin girls.

See, the distinction that people with this particular opinion don't seem to be able to make is that marriage between two adults - any two adults - involves two people who are able to legally consent to the relationship. Children can't offer legal consent (most ages of consent in various states range from 16-18 years of age), your dog can't offer legal consent, and your computer can't offer legal consent, so there's really no possible way that legalization of gay marriage could lead to legalization of any of those other things.

Now, the multiple marriage partners one has always been a grey area for me. On the one hand, I think that polygamy is often exploitative, "Look at me, I'm a big strong successful man and I can support a zillion wives", but I've also heard of relationships between three people with the gender mix being different and I dont' know, maybe it works (it's just not my cup of tea). I mean, they are all, in theory, legally consenting to the relationship. Anyone have any thoughts on this?

belindabird- Actually one of my grandfathers has two wives. He lives in Nigeria though. Anyways...I think that it probably wouldn't be a good idea in America just because there are a lot of stupid, sue-happy, drunk Americans who would abuse the right to marry more than one person.

Just my opinion

I guess my question is, what's the reasoning behind most people thinking that a relationship between more than two people is not moral? I personally don't like the idea myself, and yet I can't figure out a solid logical reason why I should feel this way aside from the fact that, traditionally, marriages of this sort have been more favorable for the men than the women. But what if it was a woman with two men? It's just hard to be able to justify an opinion either way because to me it's kind of a gray area.

That reminds me of an "English" project I had to do in 12th grade. We were supposed to outline our ideal society, and I decided to make a leap (the society was only on paper, after all) and make any consentual marriage OK. With polygamous marriages, though, everyone was married to everyone (legally, at least), so there would be less of a "hierarchy". Of course, there would be an age at which verbal (or other) consent would not be legal consent.

I think it implies gay marriage is okay if one of the men wears a dress.
