Hmmm... Do I get Windows Vista Business Upgrade or Ultimate Upgrade? As one is $9 and the other is $12, price really has nothing to do with it. I'm just trying to decide if I'm going to regret deciding to get the one with all the stupid integrated media crap when I later decide that one of those features might have been nice...
Does Microsoft Office 2007 work with Vista, or would I need to stick with XP?

"The ability to use the Multilingual User Interface feature to deploy a single worldwide image with all Windows user interface languages is available only in the Enterprise and Ultimate editions. See TechNet for details."
I think that doesn't apply to me... does it?
*checks out TechNet*

[EDIT: Every time I see "XP", I'm seeing the emoticon rather than the letters that are the name of an operating system. Windows DEATH! Heh. ^^;]

[EDIT 2: I also need to decide which meal plan to get next semester... I'm debating between either getting the 5 meals/week plan, or just getting Flex Dine and using that to pay each time I go to the dining halls. I figure on average I go to the dining halls 3 or 4 times a week, usually for dinner, which I believe is about $9.60, and the semester is 15 weeks long... I dunno, I just wish there was a 75 meal a semester plan, or something like it. All they have is 25 and 150, both of which are unreasonable for me.
Going the Flex Dine route also has the advantage of making it easier to pick up food between classes when the dining halls are closed or I don't have time to go to sit down to eat.]

[EDIT 3: Wonderful article from The Onion: Study Finds Working At Work Improves Productivity.]

Office 2007 is made for Vista, although it runs on XP machines. For your needs, I'd go with Vista Home Premium because I doubt you'll use the features Business has, and Home Premium makes it much easier to watch DVDs (e.g. with Business, when watching DVDs, it would crap out after 20 minutes and tell me I didn't have the right authorization). In the end, if you don't need to upgrade to Office 2007 and Vista, don't. XP works just fine, and while Vista is more secure and has a lot of features I like, it's also a pig and takes a lot of resources. So make sure you do your research before upgrading.

The U only offers Business and Ultimate, again for $9 and $12. I'd def. rather pay that than $200 or whatever for an OS the U doesn't offer. ^^; As for the DVD features, etc., Ultimate has them. But yeah, I guess you're right - especially when I'm already low on RAM.
(The reason I wanted Office 2007 was partly because I've been starting to like it more - esp. the equation editing interface.)

You said "Windows Vista Business Upgrade or Premium Upgrade", not Ultimate. But then, I'd get Ultimate, because it's $3 more. Who cares about $3?

If you do buy Office 2007 and install it on your XP machine, be careful because if you do want to upgrade to Vista, you'll have to buy another copy of Office, which will be costly. Well, maybe. Depending on how you do your upgrade.

So I did... ^^; *edits*
As I said, I definitely don't care about the $3. I just didn't know if I wanted all that media stuff installed on my computer, but I also didn't want to end up regretting not installing it.
Huh... I wouldn't have thought that about Office... That seems a weird way to do it. Isn't a license key a license key?

You need to activate it or it will shut down after about 40 uses.

Still applicable. Everyone should be studying. *nods* Except me. I'm too busy watching House and writing an outline (which I finished, mind you).

ETA: I'm editing this for the sake of editing it. Yay!

My boyfriend and I used one of our computers to put Vista on to see how we would like it. We both hate it. If you are choosing between XP and Vista, I say you have to REALLY want some of the features on Vista to upgrade. Personally, I don't think it's worth it. Vista eats up resources and doesn't give enough in return. Also, Office 2007 isn't really going to revolutionize your office experience. I still have Office 2000 and have no problems with going between 2000 and 2003 or older versions of office (the only thing that really changes in office that causes problems is the powerpoint slide templates). Not enough people have changed over to Office 2007 to make it necessary.
