the day in (premature) summary

Good things about today:
- comleted the physics discussion problem, although I got confused early on and had to do it on my own
- got a 19/20 on CSci quiz 2&3 that was handed back today
- set up an appointment with my advisor for 11 am on Wednesday
- went in to the Coffman UDS office to make sure that I am recognized as not working on Friday or Satruday anymore - I actually checked the Jamba schedule, and they already have a replacement for me for Friday :)
- yay free pads in U of MN bathroom vending machines!
- yay for my first quite good self-done braid (but practice will still make perfect)

Bad things about today:
- got a 7/10 on CSci quiz 4 that we got back today
- left my thermos, CSci textbook, and planner in Wilson today before physics discussion; didn't realize this until maybe two hours later, but luckily it was still there (I wasn't even sure that that's where it was)
- basically failed the practice midterm miserably (say, 10%? less?); luckily the whole lab was told that this was easier than last year's midterm that has been uploaded to the website for practice, which will also be about the difficulty of the real midterm, and in the stairwell the lead T.A. for our secction told me that this midterm was partly designed to scare us (mission accomplished, guys)
- UDS banana cream pie... Why is it always so... Grainy? And overly sweet. I REJECT THE BANANA! *dodges the tomatoes being thrown at me, and eats my pie anyway*
- finding out that I spent a good 10x more than I could have in calling various lost and found locations in Japan to attempt to retrieve my CDs

I know there's more that I wanted to write here, but I forgot what they were. I might update this list tonight. I also have a more introspective piece I'd like to write up tonight, maybe tomorrow.
Anyways, I think I'll be back to MAS the week after next, if all goes well.

What do you mean about wasting so much time calling places in Japan? Did you find them and/or figure out where they are?

Spent as in money, not time. My dad apparently has some kind of calling card that would have made the calls cost more like $5, not the $65 (about half the money I spent on the CDs in the first place) it ended up costing.
