...
Wow.
I was just looking at the Tsukihime O.S.T. 2, and I found something, and then verified it...
My name does mean moonlight, not moonshadow light I've been thinking for the past however many years. Yay! :)
Kage itself means "shadow; silhouette; phantom", but tsukikage means "moonlight; moon; moonbeams".

I discovered something similar with 影 while reading one of the 12 Kingdom novels (月の影, 影の海). In the anime this was translated as "Shadow of the Moon, Sea of Shadows" (and the Tokyopop novel translation called the novel "Sea of Shadows"), but if you read till chapter 6 or so, the book keeps talking about the moon's 影 on the surface of the dark ocean. In other words, it clearly meant "reflection of the moon", not "shadow of the moon".

Afterward out of curiosity I looked up 影 on Jim Breen and discovered the following:

影 【かげ】 (n) (1) shadow; silhouette; (2) reflection; image; (3) presence; sign; (4) light (stars, moon);

So, it makes sense that 月影 is "moonlight", not "moonshadow". :)

Yeah, when I looked up 影 on Jim Breen I only looked up the kanji, not the word... All the simple things I don't think to do.
