August, 2007
* 2nd Annual Tea & Zen Seminar
Wednesday, 1st to Sunday, 5th at Green Gulch Zen Center, Muir Beach, CA.
The Second Annual Tea & Zen Seminar will be held at Green Gulch from August 1 – 5, 2007. Teachers for this five-day intensive will be Christy Bartlett Soei, Director of the Urasenke Foundation San Francisco, Alexandre Avdulov Soro, from Halifax, and Meiya Wender Soju, Head of Practice at Green Gulch. This is a rare opportunity to spend several days totally immersed in the Way of Tea, while enjoying the relaxed setting of a temple in the midst of National parkland. (Green Gulch is located near the ocean, about 30 minutes north of San Francisco, California, and is surrounded by gardens and rolling hillside.)
The Seminar will make use of the Green Gulch teahouse which has two tea rooms as well as a roji. The daily schedule will include meditation, and instruction in temae (beginners, konarai, and shikaden). There will also be the opportunity for haigata, okashi making, chashaku carving, and chabana.
Overnight accommodations (including vegetarian meals) are available in Green Gulch guest facilities. (It is also possible to attend without staying overnight.) Fees (including teaching fees) are: $ 720 — $ 780 for 4 nights in a shared room, and $ 550 for commuters (incl. lunch & dinner). Some scholarships will be available. For further information and registration, please contact: Green Gulch Farm Zen Center, 1601 Shoreline Hwy., Muir Beach, CA 94965 by phone: 415-383-3134 or email at ggfoffice@sfzc.org. More information about Green Gulch is available at www.sfzc.org.
So very, very shiny. Too bad going isn't even vaguely an option.
