Episode 10 of Code Geass, when Jeremiah is killed... That's something we haven't seen in mecha anime before. I mean, I've seen things much more gruesome in other genres of anime, and in other media, before. And in all honesty, it wasn't really blood and guts gruesome, either. Just the whining sound, the visuals within the cockpit, and the sudden bleeding from the nose... I really wasn't expecting that... *shivers a bit*
