I finally registered for the Tandem program, so we'll see what comes of that. Hopefully I'll find a Japanese partner (I gave German as a second choice, which maybe wasn't such a good idea...) and learn to not suck at Japanese conversation so much.
One more post until I reach 2,500. ^^;

[EDIT (since I'm not ready for the big post yet): I finished just updating my checkbook from a full month of un-entered/missing receipts and balancing it - yes! (Normally I enter things into my checkbook as soon as I buy them, but once I get behind mythings have a tendency to snowball on me.)]

Hmm... I'll take a look at some tomorrow and get back to you on that. How many would you like to cover?

Flashcards are definitely helpful and I use them myself, but if you want to learn to write them I'd go for a workbook. It's all about the repetition. ^_^

I'd recommend either getting a workbook, or a reference book or textbook you can copy from, and then making your own flashcards whenever you want to add a new kanji or compound word to your inventory. Ready-made flashcards usually aren't nearly as helpful as the ones you make yourself.

True that. Unless you're a procrastinating perfectionist like me who makes flashcards instead of doing other things that need doing.

Well, that doesn't make the flashcards less useful for learning kanji; it just means that everything else in the world that you mean to do besides studying kanji gets less attention. Possibly much less attention than it might need.

(I'm a procrastinating perfectionist who read about twice as much material as I actually needed to read for my Foxes, Ghosts and Aliens course, at some cost to time I could have spent working on Phonology, Statistics, and Old Norse, because I read through ALL the stories in several anthologies we read for class rather than just the ones that were assigned.) x_x
