I can kind of study at the theater, although only when actually during movies when people aren't waiting for pop/ice cream/candy/popcorn, and when I'm not being abducted to help at Jamba, which I'm sure will happen. I was a little worried about getting off work at midnight on Friday in terms of getting home, but it turns out I can catch the bus as late as 1:10 and get home by 1:40. But seriously... There's so much open space in my schedule (if you don't count Fridays). It's kinda nice. (I won't have to worry about studying for the JLPT either, although I haven't exactly been stellar about dedicating time to that this semester.) I'll just have to make sure to get my Friday night English work in early.
As for finals week... They basically wiped the schedule and are asking everyone to sign up for 2 or 3 shifts, so after talking to Pam and Meghan I decided to sign up for only 4 right now and then come back for seconds in a week or two. I'll almost certainly have plenty of work available to me on Thursday and Friday after most of the students have gone home.
I'm still planning on doing a bunch more job hunting once this darn test is over. If only I can find the sheet with Undre's (my former co-worker at S.A., who I'm using as a reference) contact info, which seems to have been lost in the mess that has once again become my bedroom floor. Ah well, cleaning shall also commence come Monday.
In other news, I got this e-mail from Barnes and Noble today:
Since you previously purchased a CD by Barenaked Ladies, we wanted to let you know that the artist's new CD, Barenaked Ladies Are Me, will be released on December 12, 2006. Pre-order your copy today. As always, your credit card will not be charged until this item ships.
I was like... That CD came out a while ago, guys... Turns out they mean the special edition.
Well, that CD has been growing on me quite a bit, and I was really happy with the Everything to Everyone special edition (which I need to re-buy at some point, as I have lost it :(), so... I'm thinking that I want this too... ^^; Maybe I'll sell the regular edition at some point and replace it with this? Anyways, if I do end up buying it it won't be for a few months - perhaps in summer.
Oh, finally, I talked to one of the students who works at the Languages and Mathematics advising office, and although I still plan to e-mail/talk to my advisor directly, it seems like if there is permission to be obtained for taking grad-level language classes, it's not from them. Once again, something to follow up on come Monday.
And now, unfortunately, it's time to head up to work. But at least Meghan had the old Jamba recipes for me to copy, so I can make myself a nummy caffeine-full Matcha Momentum (passion-mango juice, soy milk, matcha, peaches, mangos, and ice, in proportions which I'm not allowed to disclose). (BTW, I got some black tea at Starbucks today, which was about $1.80 for a large (they charge you for extra water? wtf?), and about 30 cents for an extra teabag, which definitely helped, but then about 3/4 or 4/5 of the way through I spilled it all over the ground and had to throw out the rest. :()
P.S. Gotta love burning up the last 20 minutes of your shift talking to your manager rather than actually working. ^_^
