Huh... So I'm just reading for FSOS, and although technically minimum purchase requirements are allowed under federal law, neither Visa or MasterCard allow merchants to require them, and AmEx doesn't allow merchants who accept either Visa or MasterCard to require them.
Of course, I really can't imagine fighting with a merchant over this...

I learned that on the internet! :D Apparently some people do argue with merchants about it ("I'm calling Visa on you!"), but most merchants just don't care since the card companies usually don't take action from just one person calling.

On one hand, it's annoying, but on the other hand, I'd rather a place accept credit cards with a minimum purchase of whatever than them not accepting credit cards at all. @_@

But then again, most of they places that would make that decision are places where the average purchase is below what their minimum purchase would be, wouldn't you think?
