Well, that sucks. I tried to sign up for JPN 4004, but it wouldn't let me (not all requirements have been met? wtf?), so I went to Emmett-sensei to ask her if she knew what was going on, and... Apparently having passed the L.P.E. (language proficiency exam) in another language is not longer an appropriate pre-req for grad-level language classes. ブー。 So, that's now 6 credits on my transcript that I won't be able to get bracketed (the first one being ALL 3900, which was a topics class, and topics classes can't be bracketed).
*wishes the Japanese department was more liberal with magic numbers*
Oh well, it was a bit of a stupid idea anyway, even if my G.P.A. could have used it.
[EDIT: Apparently it's more than the Japanese department's "stinginess" (that's really a harsher term than they deserve) -
yumenohoshi actually got a magic number from the Korean dept. at the beginning of this semester to take grad-level Korean (after she had passed the Japanese L.P.E.), but then she got a letter from the dean of C.L.A. telling her she couldn't take it. Apparently they're serious about this. ^^; Wonder why, though...]

Date: 2006-11-28 01:10 am (UTC)I dunno if it'll help, but you could always petition to be allowed to either re-take the course as 4004, or have whatever grade you get in 3022 overwrite it, or something. I recommend talking to your CLA advisor about it.
