Mou... I thought I told Chris that I don't want to work on Thursdays at all, not just last Thursday... But guess who has to work tonight? I called Jeff (the other overnight worker) to ask if I could switch shifts with him, and he said that wouldn't work for him, so I guess I'm just gonna have to leave MAS a little early. :( Also, I'm only scheduled for 24 hours this week (forgot which already). I guess I should work at Easy Reader if they offer it to me, after all.
Forgot my jacket at home last night, which meant I couldn't really work much in the cooler. Chris came in around 5, and when I asked if he brought a jacket I could borrow, he said he'd work in the cooler for a bit. Great job, Nastassja. ^^;
I guess I should get some laundry started before I go to bed. (I think I'll actually be asleep by 9 today. ^_^)
Oh, paychecks come in tonight, and I think I'm getting my first one today, so I have my fingers crossed. Unfortunately, they don't come in until 8-ish (pm), I hear, so I won't be able to get Pat's present until tomorrow.

[EDIT: Besides having a general dislike of pageants in general, it's really stupid to have a pageant called "Miss Universe". This may sound stupid, but I'm serious: what about all the alien life out there in the universe? It's like naming a U.S.A.-wide pageant "Miss Earth".]

The word universe has multiple meanings. Mathematically, for example, it means the set of all things.

I don't really see a problem with the title, considering that the universal set in question is the set of all human women.

I do recognize that most people associate universe with the astronomical sense of the word.

Hmm... I suppose you could take it that way. However, I highly doubt that's what the namers of the pageant intended - Miss Human Universe, or perhaps the Universe of Misses. ^_^; In fact, I believe it's quite likely that they intended universe in the astronomical sense of the word, giving the position a more "total" impression: I'm not the most amazing woman on Earth, I am the most amazing woman.
