The State of the Academics
May. 9th, 2006 11:57 amWell, I just got back from my Japanese oral interview, which didn't go so hot, but then again I'm used to getting 10s on my O.I.s, so maybe my grade on that won't be the worst it could be. However, before the interview started Tazawa-sensei told me that he's basically sure I won't be able to pass the class because I currently have 40%. I didn't really want to talk about it then, so I told him I'd talk to him later. After the interview was over he said to come back at 4.
I figured I'd be fine if I just turn in all my old work and do the dialog checks and quizzes and chapter 18 and 21 tests, but I wonder if he's coming from the perspective that I actually won't be allowed to do that. (Besides the fact that I'm grossly abusing policy, it may actually not be in the policy somehow.)
But even if I do indeed fail Japanese this semester, I can still take third year by taking the L.P.E., which I'm positive I'd pass. But I'm very close to failing too many of my classes right now. So many that beyond the worry of my financial aid eligibility, it's not at all unreasonable to think that I might end up being kicked out of school (which would happen if both my term and overall G.P.A. fall below 2.0). I mean, if I actually lose my financial aid or backing from my parents, whatever. I can work full time and pull my own weight through college like a lot of people who won't be living with their parents do. But if I get kicked out of school altogether...
I know I could still take classes at MCTC (Minneapolis Community and Technical College), but I don't even think they have third year Japanese, and if they do I think it's a different curriculum anyway.
If only MCTC's classes weren't so worthless to me...
At least the lilacs are in bloom... *breathes in deeply*
Okay, off to ganbaru (for what it's worth)!

Date: 2006-05-09 08:29 pm (UTC)If you are absent from school on a day when dialogue checks and/or quizzes are scheduled, you may make them up without any penalty on the day you first return to class, or with a 10% deduction on the second attendance day. No make-up will be allowed beyond three attendance days including the day you first return to class for any reason. No make-ups will be allowed after May 12, 2006 (Friday).
But you seem to be right on the exams...
