Bullet Lists "R" Us

In case anyone's interested in what's been going on recently:
- Just got caught up in my math reading; now all that's left is review and keeping up - turning in a bit of homework might help, too.
- I love my new roommates (at least Jacquelyn, who's the one I've gotten to know the most).
- I made a new friend, Stacy (
this_thorn, who is also Jacquelyn's friend. I actually met Stacy the night after I began signing the paperwork to change rooms and before I met Jacquelyn. It was really cool to find out that this girl I met in the computer lab and was becoming friends with was my new roommate's best friend.
- Stacy's fiancee is pretty cool, too. ^_^
- Jacquelyn, Stacy, Stacy's fiancee (Neile?) and I had Easter brunch today. Neile threatened to light my eyebrows on fire if I didn't get out of bed to eat. ^^; We had blueberry muffins, quiche, angel food cupcakes (which I actually missed out on), and crossaint-ish dinner rolls. Later there were also French silk pie-ettes and gingerbread cookies made.
- My room is mostly set up, though I don't think I'll ever have it completely set up unless I send a couple more things home.
- Katie's crazy. ^_^; But that's why I love her. :)
- Shined half the sink, but the bleach smell bothered Jacquelyn so I'm gonna do the other half another time.
- Got some Dutch textbooks (w/ cassettes and workbooks) that were on sale at the Coffman bookstore. ^___^ Only problem? They're entirely in Dutch. I mean, I can make most of it out between my German and my English, but that doesn't make it very useful as a textbook, now does it?
- I also got an older copy of Deux mondes and the accompanying tapes, and let me tell you, it may not be as bad as the Dutch textbooks I bought, but that book is not designed for self-study. So much lackage of grammar explanaitions...
Computer-related things I need to:
- either buy my own copy of Windows XP Pro or burn my own copies of all the install discs and permanently write down a key designated for my personal use
- replace my MS Office 2003 discs that got rolled over by my chair
- figure out what the deal is with my sound card, and most likely buy a new sound card
- fix whatever I broke when I uninstalled and reinstalled all my NVIDIA drivers in an attempt to figure out what the deal is with my sound card, because now my screen refreshes really jerkily
- buy an external hard drive. I've decided that I actually really want to completely and throughly flush my system, ResNet or not, but I still have a bunch of files I don't want to just delete and that I can't reasonably burn to DVDs.
- wipe and reformat my hard-drive
- buy and upgrade to Vista as soon as it comes out (perhaps I'll wait until then to wipe/reformat my HD, but how long will it be until then?)
- possibly get a flat screen monitor, or at least a smaller monitor - this will be less important once I move back home, and I won't have the money before then, so...
- continue to read PC Hardware in a Nutshell
- connect my front USB ports
- have my subwoofer's power socket fixed
- consider the possibility/feasability of buying a laptop to supplement my desktop computer
- achieve self-actualization
Yup.
I think I'm gonna call U Rent-a-Guru later today.
And back upstairs I go.

I can help you carry the beast over if you want. I can do it anytime between 10 am. and 1pm. Just let me know a day in advance to adjust my lunch break on that day.

Date: 2006-04-17 08:26 am (UTC)All I ask is if I can steal your hub connection for a while, since there are a few things I want to snag but can't since I'm borrowing my friend's computer. Let me know what you think.
Oh, and you can just buy an external case and put one of your internal hard drives in that, then turn it into an external. It's what I did with my internal hard drive on the computer that just died.

Date: 2006-04-17 08:52 am (UTC)2) We need to bleach out our sinks again. It smells a bit, but there's a certain uptight satisfaction in having shiny sinks.
3) It says something about you that "achieve self-actualization" is listed under "computer-related things" ;)
