I'm back.
I've been bouncing in and out of LJ activation status, as I shall probably continue to do until finals are over. (Also, there shall be absolutely no formal reading of LJ during this time, so have no expectations of having your journal read, much less commented on, until then.) Once all of this is done, I'll contact those who thought I left LJ and deleted me and let them know I'm still here if they want to re-add me. (There's no real good way to let people know what's going on because if they don't catch your message in time there's no way for them to catch it.)
But anyways... Things are weird in finances land. A lot of it is expressly my fault, too. I'm feeling like a rather bad daughter right now, especially since "future self" isn't covering the entirety of the bookstore purchases I made this semester, and also since it's looking like I'm gonna have to live in Yudof this summer if I can't figure out a way out of my contract. Not that I'd mind, of course, but it's still so totally opposite from what my dad asked of me. I'm thinking of picking up a bunch more hours at work this summer - maybe at other UDS locations as well? Also having a massive book/garage sale. Maybe that'll recoup some of what I made future/current self/parents spend money on.
On the other hand, if I do end up living in Yudof this summer, it might very well be with Katie as a roommate! *crosses my fingers* Despite my affirmation that there's no point in living in an off-campus apartment (and that dorms and with your parents are the only sensible options unless your parents live outside of a reasonable commuting distance), part of me wants to get an apartment just so I can live with one of my friends. ^^;
I need to hurry up and figure out what May/Summer classes I'm taking before Tuesday morning arrives. Assuming my hold's lifted by then. (Man, it'd suck if the classes I want fill before I get a chance to register. Stupid free-for-all...)

This is Nastassja Riemermann, signing off.

P.S. If you know anyone who's interested in taking my space (not neccesarily my room or with my roommate) in Yudof this summer who doesn't already have a summer spot and isn't on the waiting list, have them contact me at riem0024. 2-person 2-bedroom super suites cost $1,343.00 for the period running from June 1st to July 31st, and they have a bedroom, washer, dryer, bathroom with shower, full-size fridge, microwave, double sink, electric range and stove.

Welcome back!! I didn't think you'd remain deleted for long!

The point of off-campus apartments is that if you get a few roomies onboard and shop about as you should, you can find places to live that are much cheaper and nicer than living in the dorms.

Yeah, but it's still a lot to pay for still having to commute.
(Either that or I'm just stubborn and bull-headed, which is likely the case.)

... commute? @_@;

I myself live just north of Van Cleve Park, it only takes me 15 minutes to get to campus on foot, and if I don't feel like walking, I can catch the 3 for a few blocks and make it in more like 5 minutes. Since I had a UPass when I was living in the dorms as well, it doesn't me a dime more in daily travel expenses than if I were living in the dorms, and since I was living in Middlebrook on the West Bank last year and most of my classes are in or near Folwell, it takes me about the same time to get to my classes as it did last year. My apartment building is hardly the closest you can get to campus while living off-campus, too.

Hmm... Good point. I guess I assumed most apartment-dwellers were at least 15 minutes away by bus.
