I give up: if it sucks, it sucks

Being March already and all, I figured I really need to turn in my stupid SAP (student academic progress) appeal for this semester. However... Especially as trying to get my explanation of circumstances perfect is part of what's been making me procrastinate for so long, I just skimmed what I wrote over winter break and printed it out basically as is:
First, in the 2001-2002 and 2002-2003 school years I wasn't able to successfully complete the UMTYMP program because I overloaded myself with advanced classes. Then, in the spring of my senior year of high school (2004), I was registered for 19 credits, and at the same time I was scheduled for a major surgery in late March of that year. The surgery itself, plus the recovery process (during which I was under a rather deep depression), made it incredibly hard to get to class and focus on my school work. This depression continued through May term '05 (when I took 3 credits), which I again feel contributed to my poor performance that term. In Spring '05, although I was taking only 6 credits and was mentally stable, I was also working full-time.
This semester I am taking a light load of only 14 credits (so I can get back on the right foot), am taking LASK 1001 (Mastering Skills for College Success) to help improve my study and time management skills, and am working only 10 hours a week. Having earned an A- in my 5-week, 6-credit summer class has also given me a great boost in confidence. (It is also concrete evidence that I have developed the skills necessary to do well in my classes.) Also, for the first time I am living on campus, making it much easier for me to get to my classes (especially those held in the morning) on time.
In the 2001-2002 and 2002-2003 school years, which were my sophomore and junior years of high school, I was unable to successfully complete the UMTYMP program because I was overloading myself with advanced classes (International Baccalaureate, UMTYMP, and PSEO). In the spring of my senior year of high school (2004) I again overloaded myself, registering for 19 credits and undergoing a major surgery in late March of that year. The surgery itself, plus the recovery process (during which I was under a rather deep depression), made it incredibly hard to get to class and focus on my school work. This depression continued through May term, during which I took a 3 credit morning class, and again I feel that this depression contributed to my failing the class. Finally, in the Spring of 2005 I took a 3 credit 5xxx level class, which I ended up dropping mainly because I didn't have time to do my homework, as I was working 45+ hour weeks.
In the Fall of 2005, I did fail one class. However, I was able to get myself removed from academic probation, and my credit completion ratio for the semester was above the cumulative requirement of 75%. In terms of academic standing, having the term requirements met while the cumulative requirements are not places you on probation rather than suspension; thus, I believe that I should be allowed to have my financial aid suspension appealed again this semester.
I am feeling very confident about this semester. After completing LASK 1001 (Mastering Skills for College Success), I have learned many skills that will help me to study and manage my time more effectively. None of the classes I am taking require me to write a term paper (for which my skills are very poor, and which contributed to my failing LING 3101W last semester). I will only be working approximately ten hours a week, meaning I will have enough time to do my schoolwork. And finally, one of the courses which I am taking is MATH 1271, or Calculus I, which I have taken in the past as MATH 1471H (in which I received a W, as described above). Although I didn’t successfully complete the course, I did learn most of the material which will be covered in MATH 1271, so it will mostly be review, and at an easier level as well.
Kowai, kowai... Will turn that in to Margaret first thing in the morning.
Things to do tomorrow:
- drop by Minute Clinic and/or Boynton to get my throat checked out
- if I got to Boynton, I might as well set up some doctors appointments
- have Gerry copy my UCard so I can start getting paychecks
- talk to Gerry about getting more/different shifts within UDS
- C.A. interview
- Japanese
Things to do Wednesday:
Too much. ><;
*returns to my CSci lab, which hates me, as usual*
*returns*
Oh yeah, before I go... My credit card payment went through. Meaning $9 extra for the phone-payment, and $33 for the overdraft fee - a total of $41. *glares at Providian for pressuring me to set up that payment early and over the phone rather letting me just pay on my own once my check came in*
*goes back*
