I hate popularity contests

Man... I'm annoyed. I can't figure out a way to turn off this top 8 friends feature in myspace. I really don't want my myspace account to be a popularity contest.
I think I'll e-mail them sometime over spring break to request that they add an option to turn it off.

If you didn't want to be part of a popularity contest, then why did you join MySpace?

Unfortunately, most of what that site is about is Friend Stacking, pretending to be friends with celebrities, and pseudo-camwhoring.

also, having really annoying layouts/music that interferes with peoples browsing.

Granted, I joined Myspace myself, but I did it primarily for classmate networking, looking for people I went to school with.

I guess I wanted people to be able to get in touch with me, since a lot of people don't have facebook accounts/LJs/whatever. All my account is is my picture, profile info, and a friends list. Oh, and an embedded player with Utada Hikaru's "Passion", 'cuz I just had to.

That's generally why I got rid of my account. The fact that an ex of mine who is against all establishment sort of "big brother" crap is on it is clearly a sign that MySpace is some sort of fiendish brainwashing tool.
