Okay, I seriously need to do my computer maintenance over spring break. No delays, no excuses. Over the past few days my computer has actually crashed maybe four times. Not the blue screen of death, but everything stops. I can't even move my mouse.
I think it may be related to my CD/DVD drive, video playback, or Winamp, as it always happens after Winamp crashes while I'm playing a video file directly from a DVD. At first it only happened after I moved position in the file, and then the file stopped playing. When I tried to start the file again, it wouldn't play. Then I tried to re-open the file, and both from Winamp and Servant Salamander I was told that there was no disc in the drive. So, to access the drive again I had to restart the computer. But now I don't even to have to change position in the file, and whereas before it wouldn't crash, now it does maybe five minutes later.
So, yeah, I'm gonna research viruses going around, and also try reinstalling the drive driver (hee, that sounds funny) as well as WinAmp. That is, I'll do that when I get back from the retreat.
