Hmm, interesting study. I'd ahve to say it's accurate because I'm from south-central PA where we called it soda, now I live in Western PA where everyone calls it pop -_- That just doesn't sound right to me ...
What do you call it?

Where I say pop, I mean. I didn't know that many people in Minnesota said soda... *ponders*

The only people I know in MN that say "soda" are those who came here from other states to go to college, and they are wrong wrong WRONG! :-P
I've always found it funny that some people call it just "Coke." Makes me want to start calling all pop "Dr. Pepper" to counter-act them.

"Mom, can I get a diet Pepsi Twist?"
"Sure, sweetie. What kind?"
"Um... Can I have a cream soda?"

But ANYTHING'S better than "sodapop".
