Despite my thinking U.S. measurements are a pain in the butt and wishing we'd switch to metric, and knowing how to convert these numbers... I have no idea how to convert it to actual concepts, such as WHAT TEMPERATURE I SHOULD WASH MY CLOTHES AT. Can anyone help me?

Wait, no, sorry. Definitely warm. I don't know. Test the water. If it feels like human body temperature, you're set.

Yay! One of my sweaters says both "40 degrees" and "warm", so 60 must be hot. I'm curious to know how "cold" is numbered, but I'm sure I'll find a European cold eventually.

Go to google and type:

40 celcius in farenheit

Or better yet, type:
40 c in f

This is what google says:
40 degrees Celsius = 104 degrees Fahrenheit

(If you wanted to do it yourself, divide by 5, multiply by 9, and add 32. Or, if you prefer, multiply by 9/5 and add 32.)

I guess my post was misleading - I don't know how hot "104 degrees farenheit" is either.
