A little ditty about me and my fishie, not edited for this new context:
I guess mainly I'm a procrastinator when it comes to taking care of my fish, in the same way that I procrastinate about taking care of myself. I try to clean his tank every seven days, and feed him twice a day six days a week, but it ends up being more like cleaning his tank every ten-fourteen and feeding him about ten times a week. Twice (and only twice), his tank has actually gone green on me because I waited too long. Somehow, though, I've managed to keep him alive since January.
I started with a half-gallon plastic bowl with gravel and a plastic plant, some larger gravel that would be easier to clean, HBH Betta Bites Color Enhancing Fish Food, and Aquarium Pharmaceuticals Splendid Betta Complete Water Conditioner, and an aquarium net. Other than that, I'be been referring to BETTATALK whenever I have a question.
Eventually I decided to get rid of the gravel so Sashimi (my betta) could more easily eat any food that he didn't finish, rather than the food contaminating his bowl in between me sparse cleanings. Of course, since there was no gravel to hold it down, I got rid of the plastic plant too. Then, last weekend I also picked up Doc Wellfish's Aquarium Salt, Top Fin Freeze-Dried Bloodworms, and an algae scrubber thingie.
Still, I can't afford a heater for my fishie, or the kind of tank I could use a heater with, and I can never tell when Sashimi's diseased, no matter how much I look at the pictures and discriptions at BETTATALK. What I really want is a good, thick paperback book all about bettas that I could sit down in bed with and read cover-to-cover. But even if I determined that my fishie was sick, all the medicines I've read about have doses that would be impossible to measure out for a half-gallon tank.
So... Right now I'm just trying to take better preventative care of him and hope his immune system will do the rest...
Will someone please tell me why every time I have a pot of tea, I always burn my tongue at least once? Do I really let my guard down that easily?
Things I have to do tomorrow:
I also need to study for kanji quiz 15-2 and dialog check III, both of which are tomorrow.
P.S. Does anyone know the difference between "dialog" and "dialogue"? I think I'm using "dialog" wrong.
P.P.S. Is it strange that when I hear a song I usually only hear while watching an AMV, the AMV starts playing in my head?
