For a LASK assignment, I have to write a three page paper on the following:
Your goal: to identify and discuss models of success by considering questions such as the following:
üHow does American media define “success”?
Hint: Some ways to think about this might be to consider pictures of who we see as the most successful and the least successful (what do these people look like? Where do they live? What are their gender, sexuality, other identity components? You need not address all of these questions in your paper but you can use them as a starting point for your critical thinking)
Also, you can use magazines, television, film, music, literature, advertising, other types of media.
üHow does your culture define “success”?
üHow does your family define “success”?
üWhat is your definition of “success”?
üHow are these definitions similar and/or different?
Do you think if my present ideas about success have mostly been refined (though not created) by Japanese culture, that it would be inappropriate for me to talk instead about Japanese definitions of success?
