In regards to my last post... Esperanto would be really fun, but I don't think conlangs are allowed as topics. But I think my laundry's done, so I'm gonna go throw it in the dryer and then start another load in the washer.

That's what I thought, too... I think [livejournal.com profile] n_true is a native speaker. Maybe turn in my little language choice diddly tomorrow, then ask if I can change it?

If you actually know Esperto I'm angry. I want to learn that language so badly.:(

Don't waste your time with it. It's essentially a cult, and if you become active in the Esperanto movement you'll be highly discouraged from learning other languages and meeting with non-Esperantists during your foreign travels. I spent ten years in the movement, but finally left after the thousandth time I was told that Esperanto is the only acceptable language for international communication, and that expressing curiosity about the native languages of my peers made me a bad man. I've written an essay (http://www.christopherculver.com/en/writings/esperanto.php) about my experiences in case it interests you. After what I've seen, when someone says "I want to learn Esperanto!", that sounds to me a lot like "I want to check out that Scientology centre!" or "I want to move into that Hare Krishna compound!".

Its always worth a try. Plus Esperanto is super easy to research.
