I can honestly say I hadn't thought of that option, but I probably would have checked it, just to be a smartass.
Anyhow, Brooke and I have been debating Snape's basic nature for close to a week now. Looks like we'll just have to wait until book 7 to get a better idea.
That's why I didn't put any other options (including "I haven't decided yet"). Perhaps I should make a second poll, so people have a chance to be smartasses. :)
I'm the type of person who doesn't read into things nearly well enought the first time, so I went through a whole "I can't believe the author took the easy way out and made Snape all "Haha, psyche! I'm teh bad guy now"...
Now because of other discussions I now believe that his behavior in offing Dumbledore was due to his Unbreakable Vow to protect Draco. Maybe assuming Dumbledore would somehow harm him even without a wand, or that the Dark Lord would punish Draco for being unable to complete his task (so Snape did it for him). I really hope he gets redeemed. I'm not really a Snape fangirl, but I always appreciated the fact that he was a jerk but never an evil guy.
My reading was that he needed to stay undercover, and if he didn't make the vow he could be held under suspicion. He had to convince Bellatrix that he was a loyal Death Eater, even if it meant certain death for Dumbledore, who was, in the end, just one member of the OotP.
What am I talking about... I don't think I remember the situation right. Gar. Will update this idea later.
The way I like to see it Snape is good. Yes he did make the unbreakable vow and therefore had to protect Draco.I think though that Snape told Dumbledore all of this. Also Dumbledore knew of Draco's plans, and then used them to hi s advantage. Dumbledore knew that Harry can't face Voldomort if he's still looking to Dumbledore for answers. It was Dubmledore's time anyways and it had to be tragic for Harry to take action. So in the end Snape killing Dumbledore was the plan if Draco didn't do the job.
ok I bet that was all a bunch of rambleing but I hope I got my point across that Snape is good and it was Dubledores plan to die anyways.
