Amy is this close to quitting. Shamise had an interview at Teavana yesterday and if she even gets decent hours (which she probably will, since they're thinking about hiring her as a manager or assistant manager), she's going to quit. Sam has a telemarketing interview today that pays $12/hour without experience, $14/hour with, and Sam believes she has experience; the job is also full-time and provides scholarships. If Sam gets the job, she'll quit. That leaves me, Laura, and Yaron to cover 154 hours a week. And OMG, I don't want to work more than 10 hours a week. If only I weren't limited to seasonal work, I'd be applying my ass off. (As is, I still should be applying my ass off, but it feels even more daunting than it should, given the even lower chances of getting hired for a non-permanent position.)
I got an e-mail from the bookstore a week or two ago, and they want me to fill out an availability schedule and come in for an interview. Now, the first thing is that I don't even know when I'll be available yet, since if I can pass the math placement exam with demonstrated proficiency in calc, I'm gonna ask my academic advisor if I can still take physics instead of bio. But even then, my advisor somewhat reccomended against bio, as it's chem based, and although all they require is that you have taken high school chem, it's reccomended to take first semester college chem before taking this class. I don't think she'll give me a bad reccomendation if I decide to take this class, but still... In any case, I don't actually know what I'm taking this fall, and if I do take bio, I'll be another one of those students who can basically only work in the evening (shifts are required to be at least two hours long), and they largely hire based on availability. On top of that, this is a temp-to-hire position, with about 50% of students being kept on after the rush period, as always based on availability (and quality of work). So, although I would adore this job, if I'm hired it would mean me risking my chances at being employed after the rush period.
I dunno... I might as well just fill out the availability form (with an assumption that I'm taking bio) and interview - I can decide whether it's something I want to risk if they offer me the job.
I just called Dad, and the camping trip is off (he decided that he can't put Becca down any time but this weekend).
