tsukikage: (HachiKuro - boring adulthood)
To do before leaving:
- subscribe to podcasts on Yotsuba; make sure I have the right episodes downloaded to start with so I don't miss or overlap any
- wash and pack clothes
- copy any TV shows/anime I want to watch while gone to Yotsuba
- transfer all but minimum balance from savings to checking (decide how much is okay to spend while gone)
- make sure all power cords (laptop, iPod, phone) are packed
- wrap econ textbook
- check for anything I need to bring back to Minnesota (I still have a brand-new volume 1 of Mushi-shi available for the asking)
- make tea
- pack small amount of tea, tea spoon, filter and thermometer (お茶はついたら買った方がいいかしら)
- OMG FIGURE OUT WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON PI DAY I DON'T EVEN KNOW HEEEEEEELP!
- Along those lines, try to actually figure out when I'm getting together with friends/family. Again, I don't even know, but that's so much less complicated than the Pi Day shit.
- Pull contact info from my old computer and load onto iPod? I'm so not looking forward to dealing with that... *headdesk* Why can't I have a second mouse, keyboard, and monitor?
- Print Megabus reservation info.
- Find watch.

Is there anything I'm missing?

[EDIT: Dear computer - please transfer files to my iPod at a faster rate than 1 mBps.]

[EDIT 2: Huh. Do I go for stored value, which will require me to get a transfer from a bus if I want to directly board a train, or buy a couple of $6 day, 24 hour passes? Although if I remember right, I can buy transfers using my stored value from the ticket vending machines on the train platforms... Man, life was easier when I could just get the 31-day passes.]

[EDIT 3: "Your rail-only transfer is good for 12 hours so keep it and use it for your return trip on the rail line, then pay your bus fare using your Stored Value Card." I did not know that.]

  • 11:30 @TomFelton I don't know about Fiji and Evian, but I know I like Aquafina better than Dasani. #
  • 13:40 1st 4 ingredients on my juice: corn syrup, water, orange juice concentrate, sugar; last ingredient, beta carotene (color). I'm depressed. #
  • 20:12 Today at work we had 6 bottles of red wine fall from about 5 ft. It was probably the most exciting thing that happened to me all month. #
  • 00:16 @mizunocaitlin At least you feel like you're good for food service. #
  • 00:18 30.25 hours until I'm home. :) #
  • 00:21 Mmmm, I need to get ready to leave, but first I have to figure out what I need to do to get ready... Too much. #
  • 00:22 @mizunocaitlin Yeah, but it's still better than not having a degree AND not feeling like you can handle food service or retail. #
  • 00:26 WTF is with those cigarette glasses in the Telephone PV? #
  • 00:32 And random mentions of ワンピース (One-piece dress? Or a failed reference to the anime? Neither one makes ANY sense.) #
  • 00:38 You know, I enjoy her music enough, and I appreciate the creativity and boundary-pushing in her videos, but I usually hate said videos. #
  • 00:58 プリンセス・ケイ・オブ・ザ・ミルキーウェイ...Just think about that for a second. #

On the bus from Champaign to Chicago. I was SO close to being late. But I suppose if I wasn't, I wouldn't be me? One tiny bit of awesomeness - for the first time (that I've noticed; maybe I've just ditzed out on it before) each set of two seats has an outlet, so I don't have to worry about draining Yotsuba's battery. (It's kind of funny to think of how recently I've started calling the EeePC "Yotsuba" instead of "the/my laptop" or "the/my EeePC". Yotsuba's so much easier.) I really hope I have an outlet on the Chicago-Minneapolis leg, although I suppose I should be spending that time sleeping as best I can, not doing whatever on the computer.

I just noticed something - nnormally I don't feel that odd about not wearing a seatbelt when I'm on the bus, but somehow, maybe because I'm sitting right at the front window (I'm on the second deck? second floor?) it's so much more nervous-making to not have a seatbelt. Maybe because this is a view I'm only used to when sitting in the front seat of a car (albeit from a higher vantage point).
And along those lines, a quick story from yesterday. When I finally left work I was riding home and felt that something was wrong. After about a block I realized - I wasn't wearing a helmet! It's rather reassuring to have made such a habit of certain safety measures that you have "ghosts" to remind you when they're not in place.

Anyways, I'm gonna watch the first episode of Zoku Natsume Yuujinchou and then... Well, I suppose this is the perfect opportunity to friggin' finish my QCing on Higepiyo. ><;

Alright, I know this is super late, but I finally know what's going on for Pi Day. [livejournal.com profile] eurohybrid62 reserved Carlson 1-125 from 11 to 4 on Sunday, and we're going to meet up at Baker's Square in Highland Park at 4. Bring anything you want to eat/watch/do/whatever. Also, in terms of getting together, so far I'm busy on the 13th and 14th, I'll probably be getting together with my cousin on the evening of the 15th or 16th; going to the SBAM on the 18th; and spending the day with my aunt, uncle and cousins on the 20th. If you need to make plans, call me at (612)607-4775, or e-mail me, or leave a comment... At this point I'm not going to worry any more about scheduling people around each other - it'll more or less be first come, first served. Alright, time to go to the bathroom then head out to the bus.
