small work story
Jun. 29th, 2008 10:40 amOh-so-very-shiny.
Okay, I haven't been updating LJ as much lately, partly because of the long-ish work days after commute, but I did want to mention one thing about yesterday. Turns out I confused today's and yesterday's work schedules, and accidentally went in two hours early. ^_^; As soon as someone pointed this out (about 10 minutes after I clocked in), I went straight to clock out, but then someone said I should call Jim first because he might want me to stay. In the end Jim asked me if anyone wanted to go home, and both Vince and Christine (Christina?) did, so Jim sent Vince home and had me stay. But I must say, as long as I confused the two days' schedules, I'm ever grateful that today's schedule didn't have me coming in two hours later than I was supposed to come in yesterday, because that would have been... Bad. (They are very strict about tardiness at RMCF, which will be very good for me.)
Ugh, I am severely pissed off, though. Of my last 10 burns, 9 have failed, often with this "invalid block address" error I've never heard of before. You know, in the past when my HD has been too full I'd have 2/3 burns fail on me until some space is freed, and then my success rate would approach 90% or more, but this is... different. I've never had so many failed burns in a row. To be honest, I'm wondering if something is seriously fucked up. :-/
[EDIT: Interesting experience from just now: I was downstairs getting myself some breakfast with iTunes on shuffle upstairs, when a song came on that I recognized but couldn't remember where it was from. Then the song entered a quieter part that I couldn't hear from downstairs, but my brain automatically filled in the next bit of the song and I recognized it as one of the songs from the Utena movie (スカーレットたちの舞踏~再会 - I'm too lazy to look up the official English translation, but it's something like "The Scarlets' Dance ~ Reunion", and if I remember right it's the one when they're on the road and they meet up with Jury-tachi. Wait, that can't be right, it's the second track on the disc, and the disc is ordered according to where it is in the movie... So I think it's just the whole first scene from all the staircases moving (Ohtori = Hogwarts!) to Utena talking with Touga?). Anyways, I thought it was funny that even when I could remember where a song was from, I apparently still remembered the song well enough to fill in the rest.]
