As someone who's pro-life but not yet anti-choice, this throws me into a bit of turmoil.
And now I'm going to go read for a bit, maybe talk on the phone with my 子犬ちゃん, and go to sleep. Night, all.

Date: 2004-12-22 11:28 pm (UTC)People's stance on abortion is such a personal thing - why can't you just be pro-life for yourself and allow others the right to choose their own path? I'm pro-choice, obviously, but if someone I know chose to decline abortion because of pro-life views, I wouldn't fight them no matter what the consequences would be for their life - it's their right.
Personally, I think since a developing fetus can be seen as both part of the mother's body and its own being, it crosses the line into being a bouncing baby person when the mother acknowledges it as such. Some believe their baby is an individual person from conception; others think the personality develops later. Science can't say "human personhood develops at sixteen weeks," so I trust the mother, since the fetus is still part of her and she probably has a better knowledge of her body than I do.
Not trying to start a debate here...(I'm bad at those)...just my two cents...
