Eating malted milk balls and then drinking milk makes my mouth taste like chocolate milk. And a really refreshing chocolate milk, too. :)
We're almost out of milk, though, so I asked my parents to leave me some money on the dining room table tomorrow morning so I can go to the corner store and get some. I wish Norm's was still open...
So, lifeguard training is over. Despite not having studied more than ten pages last night, I managed to pass. The scenarios sucked. Because of the wonder that is a four day and 32 hour long class, we only learned backboarding today. Of course, I'd done it in my high school lifeguarding class, but that was three or four years ago. Anyways, I sucked. If my victim went into cardiac arrest, and I was the one who had to place the backboard under the victim, they'd be dead before I got them on deck to start CPR. I'm fine with the rest of the backboarding procedure, but it takes me maybe ten tries toget that damn board under the victim properly.
Anyways, yeah... I'm rambling. My (and everyone else's ^^; ) scenarios were a spinal injury in the shallow end, heart attack and submersion in the deep end (submerged drowning victim rescue and CPR), and active drowning victim in the deep end. At the end of the day before I went home, Katie told me that she was debating passing me because I forgot to activate the EAP (emergency action plan) on the deep end submersion victim, and the severe inadequacy of my backboard placement skills. However, I had someone call 911 after I brought the victim to the surface, and she figured that I could make sure to practice if I ever got a lifeguarding job.
So, written test. There were four sections: lifeguarding, CPR, first aid, and safety precautions, I believe. Each section had fifteen questions, and we couldn't get more than three wrong on any section. I got one wrong in two sections. Yay! I can't remember what I got wrong in the second section, but in the first section I selected shallow breathing rather than restlessness and irratability as a sign of shock.
I still don't feel confident in my technical knowledge (I don't feel that the written test was terribly demanding), but at least this time I get to keep my book to review whenever I feel like it.
Apart from the class itself, Caribou Coffee ran out of almond poppyseed muffins between breakfast and lunch, so for lunch I had fish and chips at Brit's, a British-style pub. The fish was soggy, and they served my fries with ketchup packets. I assume this is because I got it for takeout. I hope. ^_^;

Today's spendings:
Caribou Coffee, breakfas -
almond poppyseed muffin
16 oz. dragonwell tea
vending machine, lunch -
Three Musketeers
Brit's Pub, lunch -
one-piece fish and chips
Candyland -
1/4 lb. malted milk balls
1/2 lb. "Autumn Mix", a.k.a. candy corn & pumpkins
one milk chocolate peanut butter cup
Barnes and Noble -
November '04 Animerica

total expenditure: $22.51

Tomorrow, I'm withdrawing $10, and that had better last me until my next paycheck (12/2).

I miss lifeguarding SO much. I aced my classes when I took them. lol We only had 2 written tests... cpr and lifeguarding (including first aid). I missed one on the CPR part and 0 on the lifeguarding. I'd KILL to go back to lifeguarding cuz I wanted to also be a water safety instructor and maybe one day take an EMT course. We shall see. lol

Yeah, the backboard is a bitch. lol One time (when I was just re-testing so I helped with the class as a way to "refresh"), I was a victim and needed to be backboarded. Well, the board had a hole in it, so we had to move fast. Of course the people boarding me were just learning so I thought I was gonna drown a few times as the board sunk and they weren't paying attention cuz they were listening to the instructor. Thank God he goes, "umm, guys, you might want to turn around RIGHT NOW before you turn Shana into a REAL victim!" lmfao

Who did you take the class with?
Now the problem is that the backboard won't sink.
