[DL] Home stretch!
Jun. 6th, 2003 10:35 amWhee! Two more days of school left. The good news: I have a B+ in English. The bad news: not once my paper's graded. It's so depressing. If I had gotten an A on my paper, I probably would get an A- in the class! Instead, I'll probably get a C in the class. So close! It's depressing.
But at least I'll pass.

But English... Heh. Well, we were going to have our final on Steppenwolf on Tuesday, but since we were (ie. the rest of the class was) done on Thursday, Mr. Podas had a class vote asking if we wanted to have the test on Friday (today) instead, and not have to come on class Tuesday. (Actually, he stated that we would be having an "IQ test" on Tuesday. ^_^) But... I didn't finish the book. I really think it's unfair to move a test forward, even if you're supposed to have covered the material already.
So... I bombed. 12 character identifications, and I could do 3; first and last sentence (I memorized them in the last 5 minutes before class started); and two single-side-of-green-lined-paper essays, neither of which I could do. So I put my test away and read the copy of Fake Christina lent me.
The good side to this is I know longer have to spend my whole weekend doing my English journals, etc. My only homework, then, will be reading four chapters of history, watching Heaven and Earth (extra credit), reading the rest of The Watsons Go to Birmingham - 1963 (also EC), and finishing two physics labs. That means I'll get to go to that practice SAT at Macalester on Saturday and get together with Patrick this weekend.
Looking on the bright side can be very unhealty...

But a mini-rant on SAT junk: my dad is so stupid! He wanted me to wait until this year to take the SAT, but everyone's either already taken theirs or they're taking it tomorrow. Who am I going to study with?! I was maybe going to study with my cousin, Lila, but she's going to get a tutor. Me and Maria might also get together one in a while (I'd help her with math and she'd help me with verbal), but not on a regular basis. I want a study buddy...

As you might have guessed, I'm gonna be going to summer school for English. Two hours a day, five days a week for five weeks (no class on Independence Day) at Arlington High School. It's really gonna suck. I mean, I'm going to be one of the maybe 5% who gives a sh*t about school! Well, I'm being overly judgemental - I'm sure many of them once cared about school, but learned to hate it. But still... Who am I going to hang out with? Maybe I'll try not to make any friends.
I'm also wondering whether I should still try to get a job... But first I need to find out when my class will be.

Lots more to talk about, which I will later, but I should go talk to Mr. Portis about when summer school is. TTYL.
*wanders off in some random direction on a painfully empty stomach*
