*sighs*

People really do grow apart, don't they. Margaret still feels like one of my best friends, but... I don't know. Maybe she's just a really good friend. (She's always there for me.) She has so many friends, most of whom go to her school. I'm just a memory... Who knows.

But seriously... With all of my friends, either I don't feel a strong connection with them, or they aren't available to talk to / aren't the type to comfort / aren't interested in talking / etc. I honestly feel like my best friend right now is Jupiter, but she lives in California.

Patrick defintely could be, but there's something about a boyfriend that disqualifies for the "best friend" position, if that makes ANY sense. I think it's something about the possibility of breaking up... Friends don't break up, though they do drift apart.

I came across the lyrics to my favorite song from Camp Ojibwe, a Presbyterian summer camp I used to go to.

***

Holy Father
As we stand before your throne
As we look into your face
And confess your matchless grace

Lord and savior
We have nothing without you
There is nothing we can do
But to serve and follow you

B- And surrender
G- And surrender
B- To surrender
G- To surrender
B- All our dreams
G- All our dreams
B- All we are
G- All we are

All that we are to become
All our love

I used to always request that song at vespers... I really wish I were Christian (again =P). My religious background is so confusing... Maybe I'll explain it some time.

Speaking of Presbyterianism, I don't get it! If you're destined to go to heaven or hell, and there's nothing you can do to change it, why bother being good?

Actually, I just realized... Why bother being good as an atheist? Because it's the right thing to do. Besides, other branches of Christianity remind us that we should be good because we love God, not to save our souls. Repentance must be repentance out of sorrow, not fear, like in the story of Jonah. (Moby Dick is such a good book. =P If only I'd finished it... Hopefully I will this summer.

What else? Oh, I was trying to install the Japanese IME on my laptop (Windows 95) and it failed. And I can fix it. And I'm pissed off. I'm also trying to install Japanese language support at my Dad's (Windows XP), but Patrick hasn't been able to find the disk the comp needs to install the files. Grr... Whatever...

Okay, you guys must be sick of listening to me by now, so I'll sign out. Wish me luck with my history paper!

P.o.t.D. (Person of the Day, an idea stolen from you-know-who ^_^; ): Margaret

Margaret, if you ever read this, no matter what we are now, or will be in the future, you will always be one of my best memories!
