On medicine and asking people out.
Aug. 21st, 2010 10:38 amOooh, I have two things to say! Enough to merit an LJ post!
One, thank goodness for the e-mail reminder in Google Calendar I never remember to give Cotton or myself our respective meds until after I check my e-mail, which is of course at least once every 15 minutes, including one of the first things I do after I get up. This is especially important for my hypo-thyroidism medicine, since it needs to be taken first thing in the morning (on an empty stomach) and at least a half hour before eating (or drinking?) anything else. So yeah, it certainly helped me this morning. >l<;
Second, I think this standard I've had about not asking anyone I know that I have a crush on out until I feel that I love them is rather silly. I mean, the only person I've ever loved, I started loving them maybe a month after we started dating. (Of course, I don't know what this says about whether that was really love - perhaps love really does grow out of familiarity, or perhaps it wasn't real and was just something I decided because we were together. I've always believed the former, though.) On the other hand, with that person I didn't have any friendship to ruin or workplace situation to make awkward, so maybe it makes sense to hold crushes with people I already have platonic relationships with to a higher standard than I do searches on OKCupid.
Oh, after talking with the pharmacist yesterday about the sleep problems I've been having (I don't have trouble falling asleep, but the sleep I've been getting's been particularly light lately), he recommended melatonin, so I took 3 mg before bed, and it seemed to do a fairly decent job. Of course, I also made a couple of other adjustments (plus it was raiining), so I'm not sure how much of it was due to the melatonin, and being the weekend I slept 11 hours anyway. So yeah, jury's still out on how much it's helping me, but it was interesting to find out that it isn't just snake oil (I generally trust the pharmacists to not recommend stuff that isn't actually scientifically demonstrated to be effective. *glares at pretty much all wrinkle cream and shampoo commercials*).
