I'm thinking of buying a new camera before going back to the Twin Cities. I lost the one I was using the night before I moved here in May '09 (i.e., lost it before arriving in Champaign and never had a chance to get the pictures I took in those last couple days off it), and I'd kind of like to be able to take pictures from my birthday party, the Fair, etc. They have some cheap ones at Walgreens, or if Elizabeth can't find her TI-83 to lend to me I could buy it with my calculator when I go to Best Buy (I have an 89 but one of my classes requires an 83 or 84, and right now there's 18 month financing on purchases over $249). I just... As much as I'm not very good about having my camera with me when memories are being created, I know from my trip to Japan that I really value having pictures to strengthen those memories when I do.

Well, I have 2.5 weeks to decide.

Trying to tidy up my desk area and get some ACC 101 note-taking done tonight. I'd really like to finish that before I start 102. Not to mention read chapter 14, which I shirked last fall to focus on finishing my research paper.

I'd say if you're going to go for a camera, don't go for a cheap one- I made the mistake of that when I bought my first camera. Play with them at the store and especially check how long it takes to go from one picture to another, menu system, and how long it takes to go from pushing the shutter to taking the picture. Go for one with a rechargeable Li-ion battery rather than AAs. Oh, and don't go for anything over 12.1 MP. Recommended picks for good value/money ratio: Canon SD1300 or SD1200

EDIT: Oh, and don't go for those with gimmicky features (upload straight to FB/YT, or those with 507 scene modes)
