Woah... Roger Ebert gave Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow four stars! Maybe it's not as bad as it looks...

Maybe I should get freshman comp over with instead of French. *stabs freshman comp* Whatever. I'll take them both eventually.

I haven't decided if I'm going to sign it, but I will pass it on.

Some time today, either before or after class, I'm going to post my goals for the rest of this "semester".

Man that movie looks like pure ass, I hope this super CGI movie thing is only a fad but I know it isn't

Actually, I was incredibly enthralled from the point that I saw the first preview for the film. Not only does it have a really sort of film-noir thing going on that I like, but it's touched with a glow of surreality which, even if it's all eye-candy, is probably spectacular to watch.

I wish people would let go of the line of thinking that films are only good if one is stimulated to think deeply about them. I think seeing a thing so spectacular, even if other deeper elements aren't there, can be a pleasurable experience in and of itself. Even though Star Wars Episode 2 was poorly-acted and rather uninteresting, the landscapes, creatures, and scenery were all gorgeous and I don't feel bad admitting that at least those parts are worth viewing more than once. I'm looking forward to seeing Sky Captain and I trust in Roger Ebert's assessment as usual :)

Hmm... I actually really did enjoy Star Wars episodes one and two, but I guess Sky Captain just isn't my style. I should find someone who wants to go so they can enjoy the movie and I can enjoy their company.

It's not that I didn't enjoy Star Wars I-II on some base level, but I couldn't get past the shitty dialogue (Anakin and Padme's dialogue = so cliche and inane that I was slumping down in my seat) and bad acting (Anakin again). I think it's because I was such a fan of the earlier films. They were somehow... I don't know, more innocent and less concerned with special effects (though they were groundbreaking for their time). I think George Lucas really got off track in the recent movies (that and he doesn't have any co-writers; in the earlier films, he had co-writers to keep him in check and polish the stories to make them more entertaining). I guess I'm just old -_-

SCatWoT looks really good, actually. I might make an effort to go see it. Maybe.
