OMG, ROY NOOO! WTF WERE YOU THINKING WITH THAT MUSTACHE?! *cringes*
Alright, so, the ending of this series didn't have the oh-so-delicious angst of the original, but there was something nice about Al's body coming back all at once - not all amnesiac. And there was something sadly nice, too, about seeing Ed as an adult with two children, and Mei much more grown-up as well. But yeah, final score, I still liked the original better. So much more cohesive. Many of the battles, etc. of HagaRen:FA felt like filler. I mean, I know that they weren't, and that they honestly lead to the conclusion of this war. Life has a lot of things that feel like "filler" but still contribute to our own stories. But HagaRen itself... Pretty much nothing didn't contribute directly to the conclusion of the story, and that's something I love. (Actually, that's one reason I really liked the Harry Potter books.)
[I love how even when I'm trying to be less superficial than "OMG THAT MUSTACHE, LIKE, IS A FASHION CRIME", it's still vague and nothing new from what I've said in the past. And I still make pathetic attempts to defend my meager intellect by saying it lies more in absorbing and abstractly analyzing others' ideas than formulating my own.]
Yeah, I guess that's what it comes down to in the end - all the war shit pretty much bored me.

I wonder what the movie's gonna be... Hopefully not some shitty retelling ala the Gurren Lagann movies. I'm imagining it'll be some one-shot adventure where Ed gets his gate back for a week? Or maybe a prequel of some sort, although that'd by neccesity be rather devoid of the main characters...
I'm also kind of curious about the drama that's supposed to be on the FINAL BEST CD. CD Japan has the track listed as "DRAMA/ SID", so I thought it would be a third song by SID that they'd use in the final episode, but between other sites listing the track as a radio drama and there being no such song in the final episode, I'm thinking it'll indeed be a radio drama. Which, again, has me wondering what it'll be about. Probably some trite shit, but I'll eat it up anyway, if only because I'll *own* it.
