So, after procrastinating for a few days I called in to make a doctor's appointment on Friday, and thankfully they were able to get me an appointment on the same day, about an hour after I made the call. The doctor diagnosed me visually as having a yeast infection and prescribed me two pills for that, saying to skip a day after taking the first one, but that she was going to send some kind of sample in to see if there was anything else, and if there was she'd let me know and have me take another medicine in addition, after the first pill and before the second. Well, I found out today I also (instead?) have bacterial vaginosis, and since I already took the second dose of the yeast infection medicine yesterday she's going to prescribe a third dose of that for me to take after the week of the antibiotic. (I also found out the reason I'm supposed to take a dose after the antibiotic is because it can cause yeast infections. Makes sense.) However, I'll admit that if I did have a yeast infection, and that's what set off the symptoms to make me go to the doctor... What if I've had the B.V. for a while now, and it's been just sitting untreated... Looking at the Wiki page, though, it looks like all the complications are inapplicable to me, so if that is the case, hopefully it won't cause any issues (unless the complications last well after treatment).

Also, counter-intuitive hilarity: "In 2009 one [review] concluded [probiotics] were effective when combined with antibiotics."

There's a lot of BV info out there. Some women have it chronically, so be careful to follow all directions.

... that is to say, probiotics are effective at relieving some of the side-effects of antibiotics. Last time I had to take antibiotics, I definitely felt sicker from the antibiotics than I had from the sickness they were treating. >_<;;;
