After reading various (alright, 1.5) documents, talking to a couple people, and writing down various thoughts going through my head, I'm starting to gather lots of ideas I might want to included in my paper. However, I still have no idea what I'm going to talk about. Like, I'm pretty clear it's going to be about personal disclosure via electronic means, but is that going to focus on things like the wiseness of disclosing specific details and how it affects our culture, that sort of thing, or how we disclose generalities about our personal lives and relationship maintenance... Or something entirely different?

Another issue, as always, is how I'm going to bring this into a coherent argument. I feel like I'd do okay just rambling on about various pros and cons and causes and effects, perhaps even doing so in an organized manner, but I still don't know how I'll do with narrowing all my thoughts down to a single, firm thesis and for the most part ignoring the counterpoints (unless I'm refuting them). Not to mention meeting the page minimum while "sticking to the script", so to speak.

I haven't been making satisfying progress since Thursday night (not that I was making satisfying progress before Thursday night...), but I did re-check the syllabus and found that late work is accepted. The syllabus says at one point "In the “real world” deadlines are strictly enforced and late work is not tolerated. The same rule will apply in this class.", and that's what I had stuck in my head all this time. However, it later says "Formal assignments will lose 2 points every day they are late, for up to one week (7 days). These points are based on the number of points that an assignment is worth." Now, I can only afford to lose 42 of the next 210 points in the class (in other words, I need a B- average on everything, and this "everything" is the hardest part of the class for me), so I really don't want to turn these first four pages in even a day late, but it's good to know that if I turn it in a day late I won't lose all 50 points on the assignment.

The other thing I realized is that there's nothing really keeping me from writing these four pages before I have my outline finished. I mean, she does want it to be one of the three argumentative points of the paper, but in theory I'm not going to lose points just because I might drastically overhaul that section. Anyways, my point is that if the most important thing is to turn the damn thing in (which it pretty clearly is), I'd probably be best off just making a best guess at what one of the sections will be (that I have materials to support) and write a rough-rough-rough draft of it. And hopefully even if that section does need to be drastically overhauled, I can still "strip it for parts".

Anyways, I have work at 3, so now that I'm done wasting my time here, I'm going to start getting ready. Didn't make a lunch (or tea) so I'm going to have to buy it, but... Shou ga nai.
